Wildcats Take Down Pioneers and Buccaneers
2-0 Start to the Mon-Dak Season
The NDSCS Wildcats took on Miles CC on Tuesday where they were able to come away with a tight 3-1 victory over the Pioneers.
The first set of the match was a battle that saw Miles take a commanding 19-24 lead going into match point. The Wildcats made a major comeback to win seven straight points to take the set by a score of 26-24.
Wildcats found themselves playing from behind again in the second game when Miles took a 12-20 lead before the 'Cats got it to within three at 17-20. Miles was able to hang on this time and pull off the 22-25 set win to nod it up at 1-1.
The third set was another back and forth battle where NDSCS was down 18-20 before scoring five straight to give them a 23-20 lead. The Pioneers didn't go away as they kept up with the 'Cats and took a lead late. The Wildcats were able to hold off the comeback and came away with a 28-26 set win to go up 2-1.
The fourth set was an intense back and forth set with the Wildcats coming out on top with a 26-24 set win and a 3-1 match win.
Three Wildcats had double-digit kills (Chloe Fuller 18, Kenzy Beare 14, Tessa Jacobson 13), Quinn Kost had 61 assists, and Sydni Roberts had 27 digs.
On Wednesday, the Wildcats hosted Dawson CC for an afternoon game where elementary students from Wahpeton, Circle of Nations, and Breckenridge came and supported the 'Cats. The Wildcats were in control from the start where they were able to sweep the Buccaneers by set scores of 25-20, 25-10, and 25-23.
The Wildcats are off to a 2-0 start in the Mon-Dak and overall are 9-4 on the year. The Wildcats will next play on Tuesday at Lake Region State College.
