Maggie Westling Sets All Time Records at NDSCS
The NDSCS Women's Basketball record book dates all the way back to 1976. In the 50 years of women's basketball, Maggie Westling has put her name at the top of both the all-time scoring record with 1135 points, and the all-time rebounding record of 728. Westling passes Ambah Kowcun (2020-22), who had 1123 points, and Jen Rud (1995-96) who had 635 rebounds with that record holding up for 30 years.
When asked about how she will look back at her time at NDSCS, Westling responded, " I will look back on my time here with so many fun memories, friendships, relationships with coaches, and accomplishments." Maggie was asked how she would attribute her success into breaking these records, Westling responded, "I would like to credit that to my parents, coaches, and those who support me. Most of all I would like to credit my teammates because those things aren't possible without having them by my side." The final question asked was what would you say are your best memories at NDSCS and Maggie said, "Some of my favorite memories would include winning the region championship game last year, all the long bus rides with everyone, the music at practice every day, scoring 1,000 points, becoming best friends with Neq, and most of all, quoting Bryant Friskop."
Bryant Friskop on Maggie Westling, "Maggie will go down as one of the best players to ever play here at NDSCS. Maggie will be the first person to credit her teammates from these past two years on helping her become as successful of a player as she could possibly be. I think the most impressive aspect of Maggie this past year was her jump in leadership, she took such a big jump in becoming that leader on the court, but especially off the court in getting our young players acclimated and just simply being there for each and every one of her teammates whenever they needed someone. We will certainly miss Maggie, and all of our Sophomores, next year, but at the same time we are beyond excited to see what the next step is for Maggie."
Westling hasn't made a decision on where she will be playing next year, but there has been plenty of interest from around the United States from multiple levels.
The list of accomplishments for Maggie Westling include: Mon-Dak Preseason Tournament MVP (2024), eight time Mon-Dak Conference Player of the Week, one time NJCAA D1 National Player of the Week, two time 1st Team All Conference, one time Mon-Dak Conference MVP (2025-26), Mon-Dak Conference Champion (2024-25), Region XIII Champion (2024-25), Region XIII MVP (2024-25), Honorable Mention All-American (2024-25).
