Baseball Goes 3-1 Against Bottineau
Wildcats score 32 Runs in Four Games
The NDSCS Wildcats Baseball team hosted DCB up in Casselton, ND this past weekend where they came away with three wins in four games. They won game one by a score of 10-7, lost game two 5-10, won game three 11-1, and picked up a 6-0 shutout in the final game of the series.
It was a high powered offensive showing from both teams in the first two innings of the first game of the series where the Lumberjacks had a 6-7 lead heading into the third inning. Carter Maasjo pitched a gem coming in and giving up only one hit through five innings and had two strikeouts to get his first win of the season. Masen Allmaras had a big game at the plate going 2-3 with four RBIs and one run scored. Tori Uhlich had a great game on the bases where he scored three runs and had three stolen bases on the game. Stanley Belaskie also had two RBIs in the game. The Wildcats scored 10 runs on six hits and finished the game with a 10-7 victory.
Game two saw DCB take a 2-10 lead going into the bottom of the sixth. NDSCS was able to get three runs in the bottom of the sixth to get the score to a 5-10 DCB lead, but weren't able to put anymore runs on the board for the remainder of the game. Ryan Loewe had a solid game going 2-4 with three RBIs and one run scored.
The third game saw the Wildcats put together a massive fifth inning where to game was tied up 1-1 going into it. The Wildcats scored 10 runs in the fifth inning which catapulted them to an 11-1 victory. Garret Solberg was solid on the mound going five innings giving up three hits, one earned run, and striking out three. The Wildcats got home runs from both Ryan Loewe and Max Heen. Heen went 2-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the game. Tori Uhlich went 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. The Wildcats scored 11 runs on 13 hits and committed zero errors in the game.
In the fourth game, Ben Clouse pitched a seven inning shutout of DCB going all seven innings giving up only one hit, four walks, and an astounding 13 strikeouts for the 'Cats. Uhlich had another good game at the plate going 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Uhlich stole a total of seven bases in four games including two in the final game. Allmaras went 2-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Wrigley Gunderson was able to get two stolen bases as well in the game.
The Wildcats now move to 8-18 overall with a 4-10 conference record. The Wildcats are scheduled to play two games at Lake Region on Friday, and two games home in Wahpeton on Saturday at 1 PM and 3:30 PM.
