North Dakota State College of Science sophomore Brittney Thibeaux was named the Mon-Dak Conference women’s basketball Player of the Week after leading the Wildcats to a 3-0 record last week in non-conference play.
Thibeaux, a native of Lake Villa, Ill., was named the Player of the Week after averaging 26.6 points and shooting 75 percent from the field in three games last week. In Wednesday’s 95-65 win over Ridgewater Community College, she was 14-15 from the floor scoring a team high 29 points.
Thibeaux followed that performance with a season-high 33 points in the Wildcats’ 73-70 overtime win over Iowa Central at the Triton Classic. She also pulled down 10 boards to record her fourth double-double of the season.
In the second game of the Triton Classic against Southwestern Iowa, Thibeaux led the Wildcats with 18 points on 8-12 shooting. She also pulled down eight rebounds and blocked four shots to lead NDSCS to a 61-54 victory over the Spartans.
Thibeaux is currently eleventh in the nation in field goal percentage shooting at just over 63 percent per game. She also leads the Wildcats in scoring at just under 19 points per game.
Thibeaux was named Mon-Dak Conference MVP last season and earned third team NJCAA Division 1 All-American Honors in her first season as a Wildcat.
NDSCS is currently on a seven game win streak and on the season has a 12-3 record. The Wildcats return to action on January 2, 2016 when they head to the Anoka-Ramsey Classic.
